Host.net Offers Business Continuity Services for Hurricane Season & More, Including Data Backup & Physical Contingency Workspace
BOCA RATON, FL, July 27, 2010
– Florida-based data center and network infrastructure services provider Host.net offers a full suite of business continuity services for hurricane season and other business interruption scenarios, ensuring prompt disaster recovery as well as furnishing physical contingency workspace if a customer’s own premises cannot be used.
Host.net operates secure, geographically dispersed data centers - including Florida facilities with roof systems built to withstand winds of up to 225mph – enabling clients to move their mission-critical infrastructure and data out of harm’s way. Clients have a choice of secure colocation facilities or Virtual Private Data Center (vPDC) services that enable data storage, applications and other functions to be outsourced to Host.net’s private cloud, with connectivity to the Host.net-owned multinational backbone for redundancy and availability.
vPDC backup services include synchronous mirroring of every bit of data on multiple independent storage subsystems, providing true data-level redundancy for maximum high availability and data integrity; optional replication to additional Host.net sites for additional protection; and auto virtual machine recovery in the event of hardware failure.
In addition, clients can leverage Host.net’s physical contingency workspace and associated services, including VoIP and Internet access, in the event that their current office space becomes inaccessible due to burst pipes, power outages or longer-term disruptions such as fires, floods or other catastrophic events.
One of many companies that have turned to Host.net for business continuity planning is Pompano Beach-based MTI, a provider of nationwide ancillary services in the workers’ compensation industry including transportation, translations, air ambulance, home health care, durable medical equipment, diagnostics, and home and vehicle modifications.
MTI copies all mission-critical data to Host.net’s Boca Raton colocation facility on an hourly basis, has fully provisioned workstations reserved at the office space at the same Host.net location for emergency use, and can also connect from MTI laptops to its servers at Host.net via VPN if needed. MTI has already used the contingency workspace during a phone system outage, transferring all calls to the colocation facility and connecting back to its servers in Pompano Beach.
“We’re a nationwide company, with a comprehensive business continuity plan and Host.net is an integral part of the plan. This enables MTI to provide seamless uninterrupted service to all of our customers 24x7x365,” said Seth Hirsh, Director of Information Technology for MTI.
